Oregon Humanities is a statewide nonprofit with a mission to connect people and communities through conversation, storytelling, and participatory programs to inspire understanding and collaborative change. Our vision is of an Oregon that invites diverse perspectives, explores challenging questions, and strives for just communities.
For fifty years, Oregon Humanities has brought Oregonians together through conversation programs, an award-winning magazine, and digital media that explore the thoughts, perspectives, and experiences of Oregonians, especially those who have been ignored, generalized, or oppressed. We offer hundreds of public conversations and programs, train and support dozens of discussion leaders, and award tens of thousands of dollars in grants to organizations that—like us—believe in the power of people listening, learning, and struggling together. Oregon Humanities is a partner of the Oregon Cultural Trust and an independent nonprofit partner of the National Endowment for the Humanities.
