Pet Evacuation Team

The Pet Evacuation Team (PET) exists to serve people and animals in crisis. Emergency animal evacuations and sheltering during disasters are critical to our community and save lives. We work in partnership with the Red Cross, law enforcement and local emergency services during Central Oregon evacuations, providing care and a safe haven for animals who have been evacuated by their owners. We have assisted in disasters for over 20 years, including 16 local wildfire evacuations, and a flood in Prineville. PET also provides crucial support to individuals with animal/pet-related emergencies, and to law enforcement in animal seizure cases. Our all-volunteer, non-profit organization serves all of Deschutes County, and parts of Jefferson and Crook Counties.

Each fire season is worse than the last one, with fires often occurring in different locations simultaneously and lasting longer. To serve these communities in crisis and allow us to activate more quickly, PET is seeking donations to equip a second emergency response trailer with life-saving supplies such as: pet sheltering kennels, fencing, tools, PPE, a generator, portable A/C, pet food, and animal first aid kits.
