Pet Evacuation Team

The Pet Evacuation Team (PET) exists to serve people and animals in crisis. Emergency animal evacuations and sheltering during disasters are critical to our community and save lives. PET works in partnership with the Red Cross, law enforcement and local emergency services during Central Oregon disasters, providing care and a safe haven for animals who have been evacuated. We have assisted in disasters for over 20 years, including 16 local wildfire evacuations, and a flood in Prineville. PET also provides crucial support to individuals with animal/pet-related emergencies, and to law enforcement in animal seizure cases. Our all-volunteer, non-profit organization serves all of Deschutes County, and parts of Jefferson and Crook Counties.

Each fire season is worse than the last one, with fires often occurring in different locations simultaneously, and lasting longer. To serve people and pets in crisis PET is seeking donations to repair and maintain their two emergency response trucks and trailers. These carry life-saving equipment and supplies to evacuation and shelter locations.
